Have you ever struggled to read the bible? Do you have questions about how it all fits together? Do you sometimes read bits and wonder what it’s all about? Or have you been reading the bible for quite a while, but want to learn more about it?
These are only some reasons why you might want to come to the Bible Course. The bible is a big and complicated book to read and for many people it can be difficult to know where to start. The Bible Course will help you to see how the books of the bible are part of one big story, showing you how key events, books and characters fit together – and how it’s all about Jesus! It takes us from Genesis to Revelation and is a great resource for everyone, whether you are familiar with the bible or just beginning to try to read it.
The course takes place over eight weeks. We will be running each session twice each week – on a Tuesday afternoon at the time the Ladies Bible Study usually meets, and on a Wednesday evening. Everyone is welcome to come at either time (men included on a Tuesday!).
Each session will be in two halves with a break in the middle for tea/coffee. Each half comprises around 15-20 minutes of a DVD followed by discussion in small groups. All those attending will have a manual that illustrates the DVD teaching with quotes, notes and visuals. The manual also contains questions for the small group discussions, and daily reading plans that build up to the next session, helping us get into reading the bible for ourselves.
There are sheets out in the church for people to sign up to come to the course, so we know how many manuals to get. In the meantime, you can get more information about the course by speaking to Catherine Coull.
